Another entry for the I Heart Faces "Holiday Fun" Challenge. My beautiful sister Ann, having fun last Christmas... in a giant stocking.
I Heart Faces is doing another photo challenge, and for this particular one each person can enter up to five entries. So I picked five photos I took on three different holidays that I thought went with the title of "Holiday Fun". Naturally they all have to be in separate blog posts though, to add them to the link up. So my dear followers, bear with me as I flood you with posts, please don't drown.
Late again, it is not September anymore, but we can just pretend it is anyway, can't we. The young Australian Raven has left its nest and I managed to get a photograph of it; by climbing up a ladder that I dragged out under the tree. Apparently I looked rather odd doing so.
For a six word story competition. That Joy is hosting, ending tomorrow. And I found out about today. The pictures inspired me to write. My sister Jane was doing this. She is how I found out. I thought it would be fun. Good exercise for a writer's brain. So I am doing it too. See her six word stories here. Now for my three short stories.

Do you realize just how hard it is to put what I think about one picture in six words! Or even a whole blog post. Well almost all of a post. Have you ever written a one sentence, or six word story? They are almost like a poem.
Note: food does not generally inspire me with awe.... but it is the name of the tag so I shall leave it alone.
We pre-ordered the book and it arrived on its release date! My sister read it that same day and I read it the next day. It was pretty much as I expected. Adventure, laughter, escapes, fighting with all kinds of weapons, well known characters and new ones, it is a great prequel to the Rangers Apprentice series.
When I saw this door first I knew I would have to return to use it as a backdrop for some photos, so next time I went to the mulberry tree next to it I took Jane and she modeled for me. The door is not quite so blue as this in real life, but I got a bit obsessed with the peeling paint texture of the door and wanted to bring that out. So enjoy the photos.
I realized the other day that I have not done a 'crafty' post in ages, but then I have not really made as much this year as other years either. A week ago I made these little fellows, and took some photos of the process. So here is how I made and how to make a little owl on a stump.
I have only read three books from this series -Tales of Goldstone Wood by Anne Elisabeth Stengl- but they are all really good and I want to read the rest of the books too. Heartless is the first book in the series, Starflower is the fourth and Draven's Light is number seven and a half. They are fantasy books, in which lurk dragons and other evil powers, which are trying destroy the world or capture peoples hearts, but also there are brave men and women of courage. It made me think of this quote by C. S. Lewis;
“Since it is so likely that (children) will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. Otherwise you are making their destiny not brighter but darker.”
I have not done one of these post for a while, simply because I could not find enough wildflowers to be post worthy. But I have found more now that spring has sprung. I only know the names of one kind though.
I experienced one of those rare magic moments today. I felt as though a portal to some fantasy place had opened for a minute. The experience just seemed too wonderful to belong in this worlds realm. It was kind of like a glimpse of heaven.
I bought a new lens for my camera the other week and I am so happy with it. To be exact it is a "Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS USM Lens" It rained the first few days after I got it, but finally the sun came out, as did all the spring flowers. I took Ann for a walk up the road.... and did a photo shoot of a kind, and got some smiles. (even though she was not in the best mood)
Close to where we live there is a Traveling Stock Reserve, but it is not used for traveling stock, but is agisted. Still anyone is free to walk and play in there. I have always liked going out into the paddock and exploring or building houses with logs, branches and sticks. When we were little we would go collecting what I called 'moon stone' for I had never seen rocks like that anywhere, they were often a creamy colour, and they had sharp edges with smooth sides. I would carry them back home and put them in my collection. I have no idea what happened to that collection, I can only guess it got chucked in the bin with a lot of other junk, which I probably called precious things, but Mum knew better, except for the rocks.
I did that tag last month but got tagged back by my lovely cousin Jessica..... obviously I should have changed the rule that allowed it. But I am endeavoring to answer her odd assortment of riddles.... well mostly number 1 and 3... they are decidedly illogical...... But I have answers... of a sort. I have also edited the previous riddle tag post and written in the answers to all the riddles on it.
