Photos of Me

By 08:43:00 , , , ,

I do not change my profile pictures very often but you probably noticed that I have recently, and since it was almost two years since I last did, it was about time too. Being a photographer requires me to do it well though, what would you think of a photographer with a less than quality photo of themselves? Personally, not much.

I bought a second camera body the other month and so I could finally get some professional looking photos of me with my camera. Also some general shots. So with the help of both my sisters I did some photo shoots of me.

How can I do a photo shoot of myself? Well it was quite simple, I just set up the camera settings and handed it over to my sister (who does know enough about manual settings to change the white balance and exposure) and she took all these photos of me. And we did them in raw so there would be more room for correcting lighting mistakes and because I just love raw, I edited the photos of myself, which felt quite odd.

The next afternoon we dressed up in our 'professional photographer and photographers assistant' clothes. Alice took photos of me while I took photos of Jane so that I would just be being natural and not posing as such. Apparently I look pretty funny sometimes....

I also got Jane to take a few shots of Alice and I together. I had been wanting photos of me with my camera for ages, and now I finally have them! I much prefer photos that I actually look okay in rather than those horrible selfie things. (Unless they are in mirrors but then Canon is spelt backwards.) Apart from the fact that it would be really hard to get my camera to focus on somethings so close... and do you know how heavy those things are! I get a sore enough wrist from just carrying the camera around.

Have you ever done a photo shoot of yourself?

    1. Thanks :D I do think nearly every one can be made to look great in a photo though if the photographer is good enough, but thanks.

  3. Aww, these photos are beautiful!! I way prefer to be behind the camera instead of in front of it *hides from all cameras ever* If I do take a "selfie" it's through a mirror, so yeah, my Nikon is spelled backwards. NOT IDEAL. But at least I'm still sorta hiding. OH! And I use the self-timer but I hate it because it's never very well focused.
I love the one with the sunburst behind you! SO NICE.

    1. Thanks, sun bursts are like the best! I love it when the sun is low enough to get them. I do much prefer to hide, but I do also like to have some really good photos of myself occasionally. My last profile picture was in a mirror but I though it was time for a change and of course I need a profile pic for my photography business so people can tell what I look like before we meet at some location.

  4. Nice photos! You look professional. :)

I've done a couple of photoshoots of myself - I use the self-timer and a tripod. It generally takes me a long time to get anything I'm happy with, but yeah, I have fun along the way. :)

    1. Thanks Jessica,
I have done that sometimes in the past. This way was quite fun too, we had a lot of laughs.

  5. Oh, fun! For outfit pictures I use the self timer and wing it--what results is not usually art :P

    1. Yes self timers are tricky things, the focus is horribly hard to get right! I'm very thankful to have two wonderful sisters.
