4. Tag ten other bloggers.....
Chauvelin from The Scarlet Pimpernel... is just the coolest villain ever. I decided that when our town did a production of The Scarlet Pimpernel, I then went and read the book and still liked him. He is a very likable villain and he made me laugh
Erich Von Stalhein is the 'bad guy' or one of them in quite a few of the earlier Biggles books. And I always like books with him in them especially in Biggles Buries the Hatchet where he makes quite a turn around. He is also funny at times.
The Alligator He made me laugh so much when mummy read his parts in her Alligator voice in the book Before You Meet Prince Charming. I would also highly recommend that book for a lot more than the Alligator!
Mayor Prentiss IS NOT FUNNY, he is a scary complex villain. An amazingly written character from the Chaos Walking trilogy, which I would not necessarily recommend especially not to younger readers.
Harry and Mrav from Home Alone, the first one I don't even know if I have watched any of the others... I have almost died from laughing during that movie......... my family actually had to pause it because I could not breathe....
Hrathen from Brandon Sanderson's book Elantris, he was terrifying... And complex and that book was so good, better for older readers but I would highly recommend it.
Kylo Ren I don't even know why I like him, but have you ever seen those silly cartoon drawings of baby Kylo Ren and other Star Wars characters!
Levana from the Lunar Chronicles, she is also scary. And mysterious. And I have not read most of the books yet but I got the next one for my birthday so that is the next book on my to read list, Cress here I come!
And last of all: Captain Hook from Peter Pan.... sometimes I think my favourite villains are just the ones that make me laugh the most... And I am thinking of the book and the animated movie of Peter Pan as I have not seen any other one.
And because I am lazy I tag all my followers who want to do this tag, if you do do it please leave a comment with the link, or you can just comment who some of your favourite villains are.

Nice villains! Or rather, not nice villains...I can definitely agree with the 'favourite villains' weirdness. :)
ReplyDeleteWell a few of them are kinda nice, or at least so funny that they are nice and amusing. I had a lot of trouble coming up with them though!
DeleteYeah, I agree, this is a strange tag. We're supposed to pick our favorite un-favorite people?!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing who you chose Clare! Thanks for doing the tag.
Favorite un-favorite indeed! Thanks for the tag it was interesting trying to think of all those people.
DeleteI loooove that picture of Levana. YUS. She is an amazing villain! I like her because in Fairest I did feel kind of sorry for her?!? and she's SO EVIL so I think it's an amazingly talented writer that can make me feel things for a villain. XD
ReplyDeleteI also hate hate hate President Snow. HE MAKES ME SO ANGRY AND ARGHHHH. So he's an excellent villain.
I have not read Fairest but she still made it to the list, and President Snow just makes me shudder, they both make excellently evil villains.
DeleteOoooo, what an interesting concept--favorite villains! It could go so many ways. If I took it the most fun way, I'd say Han Solo (smuggler!), Rocket the Raccoon (bounty hunter!), Malcolm Reynolds (smuggler!), Boba Fett (bounty hunter!), Star Lord (pirate/scavenger--I guess there is a trend), Megamind (super-villain)...
ReplyDeleteBut in terms of exceptionally well-done characters: Loki from the Marvel Universe (talk about a complex and endearing baddie), The Joker (animated series, and the Christopher Nolan series, for very different reasons), Sauron (the original Dark Lord deserves a shout out), Darth Vader (omg complicated and heartbreaking), Chauvelin makes my list, too (especially the movie/play versions), Magneto (he's so close to being a good guy), Ravenna (Snow White and the Huntsmen--scary pure evil is rarely portrayed so clearly), Lex Luther (animated series *only*).
Actually, this is really interesting and I might end up writing a post about it! What makes a compelling/excellent villain? And there are so many angles...
Oh yes a post would be good, there are so many ways you can take it. Han Solo of course, with him you you can start thinking, who is a bad guy and who is the good guy.
DeleteI love Kylo Ren. He is a very complex villain.
ReplyDeleteHe is isn't he, thanks for the comment.
