If you have followed my blog for a while you may remember when I did some fan art for Gillian Bronte Adams fantasy story, and I'm glad to say that today she is guest posting here! In case you have never heard of her here is a little bio, then ill hand it over to Gillian.

Bio: GILLIAN BRONTE ADAMS is a sword-wielding, horse-riding, coffee-loving speculative fiction author from the great state of Texas (America). During the day, she manages the equestrian program at a youth camp. But at night, she kicks off her boots and spurs, pulls out her trusty laptop, and transforms into a novelist. She is the author of Orphan’s Song, book one of the Songkeeper Chronicles, and Out of Darkness Rising. Visit Gillian online at her blog, Twitter, or Facebook page.

Today, we’re looking at the letter G.
G is for Gundhrold
They were coming.
Gundhrold peered into the moonless dark, feathered wings ruffling in the breeze. Distant howls sounded to the beat of thundering hooves and clinking armor. Distant, but rapidly approaching. Foul murderers. His claws dug into the bark of the limb, and dark sap bubbled out of the scratches. A fresh scent hovered around him, strange amidst the eerie screams borne upon the wind, and he studied the russet sap staining his claws like blood.
Writing the prologue of Orphan’s Song (book one) from a non-human perspective was both challenging and fun. Gundhrold is a griffin, which in our world is considered a mythical creature with the body and tawny colored fur of a lion, crowned with the head of an eagle and russet feathered wings. At the opening of
Orphan’s Song, he is already long past his prime, though he would never admit it. Particularly not to the peddler, Amos McElhenny.
In the world of Leira, griffins served the Songkeepers and Songlings as Protectors, and as such, they were ever hunted by the Takhran. It fell to the council of griffins to determine which individuals had received a partial gifting (Songlings) and which had received the full gifting (Songkeepers). In Songkeeper, we learn that one such decision led an angry young man named Rav—brother of the Songling Zahar—to betray the griffins to the Takhran, a deed which led to a horrible tragedy. Now as the last of his kind, the task of protecting the Songkeeper falls to Gundhrold alone.
“For centuries, my kind have served as Protectors for the Songkeepers and for anyone who showed promise of possessing their abilities—Songlings, we called them.” – Songkeeper
By the time the story begins, Gundhrold has lived long enough, traveled wide enough, and endured hardship enough to not suffer fools kindly. He is the king of acerbic wit. Although he is far from human in matters of social niceties, sarcasm is one human habit that he has completely mastered.

One of my favorite parts of writing is when you get to pit vastly different characters together in tough circumstances and see what hilarities ensue. As an author, it’s like having front row seats to a cage match—albeit, generally a comedic one. It’s time to kick back, settle in with a bowl of popcorn, and wait for the fists to fly.
Gundhrold was such a strong personality in and of himself that he needed an equally strong personality to butt heads with, and Amos … well, Amos was the perfect candidate. If you haven’t met Amos McElhenny yet, he’s a traveling peddler with a fierce temper and tongue to match. So—SPOILER ALERT—at the end of Orphan’s Song, throwing Amos and Gundhrold into a do or die mission together was just too good an opportunity to pass up. *evil chuckle*
Gundhrold’s head lowered until his massive beak was only inches away from Amos’s nose. “I am a son of the desert. This was once my home—the home of all my kind. I know every crag, every slope, every crick and hollow—”
Amos rolled his eyes. “Every blatherin’ speck o’ sand?”
“I know where I’m going. Don’t interfere.” The griffin padded off, broken wing still trailing the ground, leaving Amos racking his brain for a suitable insult for the … the … insufferable beast.
Needless to say, much hilarity (and fist throwing) ensued …
Gundhrold is fierce in battle. Not at all the sort to trifle with. But beneath his ferocity and rigid exterior, he hides a heart that beats with the truest affection for those under his care. He will fight to the death for those that he seeks to protect.
Gundhrold bared his teeth. This was death. This was the end. And he would meet it with all the fury in his soul and wake in Emhran’s land to greet the dawn.

Songkeeper Blurb: War ravages Leira and the Song has fallen silent.
Freed from the hold of a slave ship, Birdie, the young Songkeeper, and Ky, a street-wise thief, emerge to a world at war. Hordes of dark soldiers march across Leira, shadowed by whispers of plague and massacres, prompting Ky to return to his besieged home city in hopes of leading his fellow runners to safety.
Desperate to end the fighting, Birdie embarks on a dangerous mission into the heart of the Takhran’s fortress. Legend speaks of a mythical spring buried within and the Songkeeper who will one day unleash it to achieve victory. Everyone believes Birdie is the one, but the elusive nature of the Song and rumors of other gifted individuals lead her to doubt her role. Unleashing the spring could defeat the Takhran once and for all, but can she truly be the Songkeeper when the Song no longer answers her call?

Have you encountered a griffin in a fantasy book/movie before? What is your favorite type of mythological creature?

It is finally the time to share the cover of A Time to Rise! For any who do not know A Time to Rise is the third and last book in the Out of Time Series by Nadine Brandes. It is set to be released on the 14th of October 2016 in America which makes it the 15th here in Australia.

But to the point, you want to see the cover. Actually you probably scrolled down and saw it before coming back to read anything.

That is what I do.

So with no more delay I present to you

*insert sound of dramatic music*

*insert imaginary drum roll*

*insert a great gust of wind*

the cover

of

A Time to Rise!

Doesn't it look so good!

Now follows the synopsis which contains spoilers for the previous books so consider yourself warned.

What more can you sacrifice than your life?

Parvin Blackwater is dead.

At least…that’s what the Council—and the world—thinks. But her sacrifice tore down part of the Wall long enough to stir up hope and rebellion in the people. Now she will rise again. Strong, free, and fearless.

Parvin and Solomon must uncover the mysterious clues that Jude left behind in order to destroy the projected Wall once and for all. Meanwhile, the Council schemes to new levels of technology in its attempts to keep the people contained. Can a one-handed Radical and a scarred ex-Enforcer really bring shalom to the world?

So if you have not read the previous books you should forget that you just read that synopsis, and read the other two books now, so you are ready for A Time to Rise when it comes out. The three of them look so good together, I can't wait for them to all sit in a row on my shelf.

Now I bombard you with links

You can find A Time to Die all these places:

As for A Time to Speak, look here for it:

And because if you don't know what an amazing person Nadine is you are really missing out. She here are some links to the places she usually resides on the internet:

Have you read any of Nadine's books?
Do you like dystopian fiction?

The Giveaway has ended, congratulations to the three winners, Sarah W, Cait G, and Bonnie! You should each be receiving your bookmark in a week or so because I posted them today.

Why three and not the two I originally said? Well you can thank Sarah, she decided she only wanted one so I drew (well raffelcopter randomly picked/did whatever it does) another person. And more is always just more fun.

A cool fact: Each winner was from a different country. We had one from Australia (the best country of all) one from New Zealand (just across the ditch from us) and one from way off in that distant and wild country called America or the US or whatever they call themselves.

And some time in the future we shall be able to see some more photos of one of the bookmarks because Cait promised to take some photos with it in a book she will review in the future, and if you are interested in reading book reviews that are both funny and informative you should probably check out her blog Paper Fury.

If you wanted to you can also check out Bonnie's lovely and purple Blog, Bonnie's Blessings.

As for the lovely Sarah, I don't think she has a blog, at least one I could find. But you can find her on Google+.

And now my 504th post is done.

Five hundred is a large number, at least as far as numbers of blog posts posted. A number like 500 requires a celebration. So on reaching 500 posts posted with this very post, I have made these seriously cute little bookmarks, because no reader can have enough bookmarks right? And I think that most of my followers are readers, and if not the make good gifts to give on! Especially when they are sparkly and some have owls attached to them.

This is open internationally, because it is just no fun when giveaways are not. Like last time there will be two winners, the one chosen (by the computer/rafflecopter) first, will receive their favourite bookmark; the second person chosen will receive either their favorite or second favourite bookmark and another, depending on whether both people have the same favourite.

And here are some photos which are a bit closer up.

I have had a lot of busy afternoons recently (and I shall be posting about some of them soon,) so I took all these photos indoors during the middle of the day. Which means they look a bit different to most of my outside ones!

I had such fun making these bookmarks, hope you enjoy the photos and of course two of you will get some of them! I can't wait to see who it is. Down at the very bottom of this post is the rafflecopter thing to enter with so enter away! It runs for a week before finishing.

And my sisters (should I just say Jane) you are allowed to enter this one and if you happen to get chosen then I shall pick a third winner.

Well This is my 400th post... as the title clearly states and it is also a giveaway, as giveaways are cool. I will be giving away one of these five necklaces that I have made. I figure that whichever one the winner chooses can be posted in a normal sized envelope, so this is open to international participants as well as people from Australia. Hopefully you realized before the previous sentence that I come from Australia and not somewhere else. In case you did not, I hereby state: I am Australian through and through, and proud of it!

So follows the photos of my metal, chain, wire, marble, and bead creations, otherwise known as necklaces.

This one does hang like this sometimes.... but it is notoriously difficult to untangle...

If any of you read my sister, Jane's blog you may have known we spent last week at the beach. So why have I had no photos from it? I took a lot. But I really do have a good reason. I did my first wedding photo shoot the weekend before and am still going through (almost two thousand) and editing the hundreds of photos, I have not touched the hundreds I took on holidays yet, but they shall come. So shall a few of the wedding but after I have got the photos to my clients.... oh that word clients... it sounds so serious but I don't know what else to say.... so clients it is.

Well The other day.... actually more like two weeks ago I hit 19999 page views. I actually saw the number... and remembered to get a screen shot of it. I also have an extra follower or two since then.

In my all time stats the US has also finally topped Australia. I do wonder though just how many of them are fake search engines and how many are real people.

And there are individual posts. I find these stats the most fascinating. Some of them make sense of how they got so high but others? Seriously that one on making door-stopper chickens? That was a very early post full of terrible photos and... well it has hundreds more views than anything else, I would assume someone must have pinned it to pinterest or something.

The giveaway post is also high... well who does not like a chance to win free stuff? So I have been thinking about doing another when I reach 400 posts, I can't decide what yet. But as for the bottom two I have no idea why they have so many views.... I don't have any idea at all why they are so high.

The movie review of God's Not Dead makes sense, as it could come up on search engines and people who don't normally read my posts would read and share it. As with the Rangers Apprentice one I suppose, and the DKT. In the case of the Blogger award one, well people like me probably keep finding it by following links back... forever. The riddle one though? I don't know. I never thought they were that good and the answers are there now too..... sure it got high fast originally but why is it still going up?

Ahh the mysteries of stats.....

As for the giveaway I thought it could be a handmade necklace..... that could be posted most places without much cost.
And the winners name is Lauren! And in her comment she said she would like "Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends". This is a great book and also very funny. We read it as a family and laughed a lot. For example; "the definition of a torch, a container for dead batteries." I don't even remember the context of that now.... but it had some.

We need to not just survive our siblings but be best friends with them, they are the people God placed specially in our lives and we will have a lot of input into the people they become. Especially for any of you who are oldest siblings or just older than some others. What a chance this is for us. If you haven't read this you really must, it is certainly a must read, so insightful, encouraging, funny, true, Christ centered and practical too.

Drum roll............. and it is giveaway time. Turns out the Rafflecopter does work.... it also tells me lies and tries to confuse me though. Like telling me that my giveaway has started when it has not and having the dates all the wrong way around. But it seems to be working. So these three books will be the ones the winner... who so ever that may be.... will be able to chose out of. I went with Start Here because it is a similar book to the other two that were voted in... Before You Meet Prince Charming and Making Brothers and Sisters Best friends. Hopefully Rafflecopter continues to work so enter away!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Entry is open to International readers too because I will buy the book and get it posted straight to you; after you chose which one and tell me your address... which for obvious reasons if you are the winner, will be necessary. Unless I already know where you live...

Note (for those who have never used Rafflecopter: with Rafflecopter you need to put in your email then completer however many of the tasks (like commenting on or following my blog) you want. each task gets you one or two entries, the more entries you have the more chance of winning. At the end Rafflecopter will pick a random winner. And once I verify their entries, they have won and so on.
I am almost up to 300 posts on my blog so I have been thinking for my 300th I should do a giveaway! But the question that has been racing around my head is what and how can it be for all my American/international readers as well as my Australian ones, (most of which I know personally). I have come up with an idea. Naturally the prize will be a book and I shall buy it from Book Depository, but I shall do so after the giveaway winner has been announced so I can get the book posted straight to them and it is as easy for it to go to somewhere international as here.

So unless you are an alien or a human who for some reason has gone to live on Mars I should be able to send it to you easily. Sorry aliens if there are any reading this, which I highly doubt. The next question I must face is "what book?" and "do I actually decide on a final book or let the winner chose out of three?" and in that case "which three?" There just happen to be a lot of good books in the world.

I'm not yet sure how I am going to do the giveaway, I may use Rafflecopter... but that depends greatly on if I can get it to work, have never tired to do anything with it before.... other than enter a giveaway. If that does not work then I shall have to draw names out of a hat.

I think the answer to what book will be which three but I currently have thought of five so if you would like to comment and tell me which three you think I should have to choose out of or else just one which you feel really must be included in the three.

Before You Meet Prince Charming, Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends, Joshua, Start Here and Till We Have Faces. I have read all these books and they are what I consider must reads.
