An Excellent Wife Who Can Find?

By 10:59:00 ,

Girls, if we have high expectations of what we want our 'hopefully one day' husbands to be like, then if there is a guy who fits them he will probably have high expectations for his 'hopefully one day' wife. Would you meet those expectations?

We need to strive to be that excellent wife and though the bible normally seems to be talking to guys or at least wording it so as to sound like it is talking to guys, Proverbs 31:10-31 (which again is a guy talking to a guy) gives us a very good picture of something to aim for. It is not impossible, for with God's help we can do anything and nothing is impossible.

One of the things in this passage that I had never noticed until I read it in this blog post I find really interesting. Verse twelve says "She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life." Our life starts way before we are married. Our life started when we were born, even before! We as future wives are to do our husband good all the days of our lives! All of them! I had never seen this even though I have read Proverbs 31 so many times, and have almost memorized it.

All of our lives means we are serving him... by making ourselves into women of Christ now. Right now is our time for preparing. Just as our life on earth is preparing us to one day be the bride of Jesus Christ!

We all want to be precious and special, well an excellent wife is "far more precious than jewels." We would treat jewels carefully and not be giving them away to people they are not for. We are more precious than jewels so how much more should we guard ourselves, our minds and our hearts. Then one day we can give the precious jewel that we are still sparkling to the man God has for us.

A proverbs 31 woman is trustworthy. She works willingly and diligently. We need to prepare to be like that. "She considers a field and buys it" We need to become wise and be able to make decisions about monetary things. "She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household" We while still at home can learn much from our mothers and take a hand in cooking and providing for our family, like we will one day do for our husbands. A proverbs 31 woman is strong, dignified and not idle.

"She opens her hand to the poor" Now is also a perfect time to learn to give generously. If we can't give out of the little we have now how much more difficult will it be then. "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." Getting married does not suddenly make you different, we need to learn kindness and patience now. One day we will need to bring up children to be the adults of the next generation and we want them to rise up and call us blessed. Do we not?

Most of all we should fear the lord "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

There is so much more I could say, but I think I will stop for now. I will leave you with some more verses. Become that woman who fears the Lord, now is the time.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" Proverbs 9:10

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures for ever!" Psalm 111:10
